MYPlace
In 2010, the three Churches of Scotland joined together to reach out to the young people of Montrose, employing a part time Youth and Family Worker funded by the Church of Scotland. After some time the team managed to raise further funding to make the job full time. With the recent Presbytery reorganisation, the post is now fully funded by the Church of Scotland.
Shona Barakat ran MYPlace for three years until she moved on to another post recently. Our new Youth and Family Worker, Claire van Geete has not lost any time in getting on with the job and has already started in schools and clubs with great enthusiasm.

Toddler and Carer playgroups run on Mondays in Trinity Ferryden Hall and on Thursdays in Philos Community Hub in Castle Street, during term time.
Both run from 9.30 to11.30am.
New members most welcome.

Claire has made contact with all the schools within Montrose. She was in Borrowfield and Lochside Primary schools before Easter ahead of P6 from both schools coming on an "Easter Journey" in the Trinity Steeple Halls.
She will be presenting Scripture Union's Bible Alive course in all the primary schools over the summer term. This fits in with part of the school curriculum.
Claire and Derek have started an informal lunch time drop in at Montrose Academy to get to know the staff and pupils while Claire is starting a Scripture Union weekly lunch club at the Academy
During the Easter holidays, Lego Clubs ran on two days and that was followed by a special Easter Event with puppeteers, crafts and activities.
You can see how busy Claire has been and how committed she is to the youth of our town. Her faith underpins her enthusiasm for her work and prayer is at the centre of all she does. She has started a weekly prayer group for all who want to join her in praying for God's guidance and blessing on her work with youth and families in the town.
Please support her in any way you can.

Lego has such all age appeal that Lego Church has been established for families, running in Trinity Steeple Halls on the first Sunday of each month, 4-5pm, with a bible story, Lego building and a snack.
Adults have been catered for too. Apart from accompanying families to Lego Church, there have been ceramic and cake events for parents, families and friends.
Look at the calendar (via the Activities Page) to see when and where events are taking place. Please come along - families are always welcome.
